The Hartford Circus Fire - Connecticut Museum of Culture and History In-Person
In 1944, one of the worst fire disasters in American history occurred in Hartford. The circus fire has lived in the memories of survivors and the imaginations of Connecticans ever since. In this presentation, photos and artifacts from the Connecticut Museum’s collection will help tell the stories of that day. The presentation will examine the ways in which Connecticans have continued to identify, honor, and bring justice to the victims in the intervening decades.
This discussion will be led by Mya Concepcion, a Museum Educator at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History. She develops and teaches educational programs for school and adult audiences. Mya has experience in education and museums in CT and holds a B.A. in Art and Art History from the University of Hartford.
